International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA), Asia Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), and All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI) are jointly organising a roundtable on Key Action Areas for Addressing Extreme Heat in the Asia-Pacific: Lessons from Regional Platforms on Friday, April 25, 2025, 4 to 5 PM IST.

The roundtable aims to create a collaborative platform for stakeholders to address the growing challenge of extreme urban heat, with a focus on Bangladesh and the broader Asia-Pacific region. It seeks to deepen understanding of the impacts on health, livelihoods, and vulnerable populations, while exploring practical, locally led adaptation solutions such as early warning systems, green infrastructure, and inclusive planning. By bringing together government representatives, civil society, researchers, and community voices, the roundtable intends to foster meaningful dialogue, promote policy alignment, and strengthen partnerships for integrated and equitable urban heat resilience.

Key Objectives:

  1. Understand the Impacts of extreme urban heat on health, livelihoods, and vulnerable communities.
  2. Explore Adaptation Solutions, including early warning systems, green infrastructure, and community-led responses.
  3. Build Partnerships to align local actions with national and regional climate resilience and DRR policies.

The roundtable will publish a special issue on Southasiadisasters.net on “Key Action Areas for Addressing Extreme Heat in the Asia-Pacific: Lessons from Regional Platforms” for wider circulation and application.
