Local Officials in Bihar Empowered for Enhanced Disaster Risk Reduction

Patna, Bihar, October 4, 2025

 

In a significant capacity-building initiative, it has successfully conducted a comprehensive training program for 200 local officials in Bihar. This endeavour was undertaken by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Bihar, with a focus on bolstering Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) capabilities across the state.

 

The intensive training aimed to equip local authorities with critical skills and knowledge to mitigate, prepare for, and respond to disasters effectively. Aiming at avoiding deaths. By enhancing the capacity of local officials, AIDMI facilitated the fostering of resilience and promotion of sustainable development in Bihar’s disaster-prone regions.

 

Key highlights of the program include:

  • In-depth modules on disaster risk assessment and management
  • Strategic planning for disaster response and recovery
  • Community engagement and participatory approaches for DRR
  • Best practices in policy implementation and governance

 

Through this collaborative effort, AIDMI, UNDP, and the Government of Bihar reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure in Bihar against the backdrop of increasing climate-related risks.
