Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) 2024, Manila, The Philippines

The APMCDRR is the main platform in Asia and the Pacific to monitor, review and enhance cooperation for the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) 2015-2030 at the regional level.  The conference brings together governments, intergovernmental, international, national and civil society organizations, the private sector, science, academia and stakeholder groups to accelerate progress in reducing disaster risk.

The All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI), in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is organizing an event titled, “Gender-Responsive Solutions for Heat Stress: Safeguarding Women’s Livelihoods” as part of the Learning Lab at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) in Pasay City, Philippines, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM (Philippine Standard Time, UTC+08).

The objectives of the event are to:

  1. Highlight the disproportionate impact of heat stress on women, particularly regarding the risks to their livelihoods in agriculture, tourism, and informal sectors across Asia and the Pacific.
  2. Demonstrate how gender-disaggregated data can inspire innovative heat adaptation strategies by showcasing successful case studies in key sectors.
  3. Encourage collaborative efforts to develop and scale gender-responsive solutions across the Asia-Pacific region.
