Ever since its inception in 2001, AIDMI’s Safer Schools Campaign seeks to improve school safety — as a right of children through disaster risk reduction. More specifically, it aims to increase disaster awareness, develop school-specific disaster preparedness plans, promote structural and non-structural safety measures for disaster risk reduction, and provide disaster insurance coverage to school children, teachers and administrators against several types of accidents. It aims to mitigate the impact of hazards on school children, teachers, administrators and infrastructure and to foster a culture of disaster prevention and mitigation.
