Early Warning! Early Action! Early Finance?

Southasiadisasters.net Issue No. 231, April 2026

As Mihir R. Bhatt notes, “In a world where risks are increasingly known in advance, acting early is no longer an option—it is a responsibility and financial prudence for all those who are fortunate to not be affected.”

The All India Disaster Mitigation Institute (AIDMI), with support from the Risk-informed Early Action Partnership (REAP), is pleased to announce the release of the latest issue of Southasiadisasters.net titled “Early Warning! Early Action! Early Finance?”

This special issue brings together field experiences and global reflections on anticipatory action, climate resilience, humanitarian preparedness, and risk-informed finance. It highlights the need to connect early warning with practical early action and timely finance for communities most at risk.

Drawing on discussions from HNPW 2026, the issue features articles on extreme heat, avoidable deaths, transport workers, small businesses, mutual aid, urban cooling, loss and damage, and anticipatory finance.

The issue calls for stronger alignment between early warning, early action, and early finance to reduce avoidable losses and protect livelihoods in a warming world at the upcoming London Climate Action Week 2026.

In this issue, readers will find nine articles:
