The National School Safety Programme (NSSP) training module, published by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), is a comprehensive resource designed to build disaster resilience in India’s school communities. It provides a structured five-day training framework for master trainers aimed at promoting disaster preparedness, mitigating risks, and ensuring safe learning environments for children and school staff. The module covers essential concepts of disaster risk reduction, school safety planning, hazard and vulnerability assessment, structural and non-structural safety measures, and inclusive approaches that address the needs of all learners. Through participatory sessions, mock drills, and practical tools like School Disaster Management Plans (SDMP), the NSSP equips trainers with the knowledge and competencies to cascade disaster safety practices across schools, fostering a culture of preparedness and resilience at the grassroots level.

AIDMI promotes school safety and disaster preparedness by developing and delivering training modules and capacity-building programs for master trainers under the National School Safety Programme to enable schools and communities to assess risks, plan safety measures, and build resilience for children and educators.
